My wife has sort of accepted the idea of a second Dodge Cummins for herself (after some pleading on my part) I was thinking of a Quad Cab shortbed 4x4 with 3. 54 rear and the automatic for ease of around the town driving. Please let me know any other ideas or observations anyone has on this matter. I am also looking for a real good dealer to do business with here in the Pacific Northwest. Would really like to pay slightly above invoice and know that I'm not getting the shaft.

Thanks alot, Chuck

Rambunctious, 2 cummins are better than 1. How does $50 over invoice and no BS in the NW sound?

I bought my 2001 from Ken Ray at Ron Tonkin Dodge in Portland for invoice price. Ken is the fleet manager/internet sales guru there. I paid $30,300 for a 2001 QC 4x4 ETH/DEE, with tow package, camper package and the SLT stuff. It was painless. They had 15 diesels in stock so you can pick and choose.

My wife Sue loves her 01 QC/SB. It is reasonably maneuverable in the parking lots, and the QC can haul people (Sue calls it her "car"). The 6' bed was not an issue in our case because I have a 94 Ram and an 85 F250 - both with 8' beds to haul bulky items. It's not often that you can get a new diesel truck and punch it on the other half's ticket WOO HOO!

Sue chose the options (including the 6-speed) and has no trouble driving the manual in traffic. The auto would be even easier for your wife to handle in town. For NW dodge dealers, you can look at how some dealerships have rated some on my web survey: http://www.ece.vt.edu/~dfritz/buying_info/survey_dealer/Dealers.htm

If it was me and i was buying a second Dodge I'd wait about another six months and buy one of the new four door crew cab Dodge trucks they are about to come out with. Not a QC but an actual four door truck. We have a QC and three chicldren and it gets a little tight, if you are planning to have children or have children I would strongly suggest the four door model that should be out in the spring. We like the Durango, if they would just put a diesel in it, but who knows what Dodge will do?
