Makes no sense to take a new truck out in the mud and a pond. Now I wonder if the owner is gonna be truthful when it comes time to sell or trade in that truck? "No sir, this here truck has never been a four wheelin. " yeah, uh huh.

double ouch.

I have a $500 (not what I paid for it and not even close to the sum of parts) truck that I is specifily built for that and I even wont go threw that much water. I can see a very rotted floor in that truck future.

What was going through your heads To drive through a pond

Did it mess up the electrical at all

Pretty cool song ,Did you all write it :)

Wish I had the money to just laugh at all the water flowing out of the cab of my 40,000 dollar truck. Completely stupid.

Come on guys give him a break here! He was not driving through a pond, he was getting an undercarraige wash!

Looks like the Chevy almost had him out, just needed a little more momentum!

These things happen. If you think it's stupid, enjoy your pavement queen!

No, I enjoy the truck that I spent $5000 on, not the brand new one. It is stupid to take your daily driver and do this crap.

We use to have races out to a tree and back , at this one lake (well we used to call it a lake, compared to the rest of the U. S. , it's a pond or even a puddle - but for us, we call it a lake). We used the tree as a turning cone. (the water level was real high for a few years)

We really needed snorkels, but if you got it right, you could push a wake and have a void infront of the grill.

Atleast back when I did these stunts, I had 40K and + on my 80 yota, I paid 7K for and another 5K into.

It was amazing, as long as you kept moving fast enough, the water never came in my door seams. My intake was at the very top of my hood.

Only once did I hit a rut, the nose dipped, and took on just a tad bit of water , and stalled. And then water came in the door seams.

Apparently not enough for hydro lock as I found out, seemed mostly the ignition, it was lower than the intake and not water proofed. Once you lost that wake, the level rose in the engine bay.

I was able to use low, reverse (manual) and the big batteries I had for the winch to power the starter to back out to dry land (a true electric vehicle ! ). Started the truck, parked it on a hill and let it drain.

Next day I pulled out the carpets and seats for the day, and it dried out well. Never smelled.

Even my linear amp for my CB tried out well, it was under the seat.

And yes, back then, beer was also the reason to start and particpate in such races.

There's a 1/2 mile stretch of paved road near my house that goes under water when it rains for more than a day or so. It's either ford the water hazard, or take a very LONG way around. I've gone though there at least twice with the water up to the headlights without any problem. Key is to keep 'er moving faster than the water trying to run back up into the engine compartment, but not push so hard into it to slip the tires enough that the current starts shoving you sideways and off the road.

BK are you talking about the old pig farms in shoreham? down by the power lines?

Never been there, missed a good wheeling spot did I?

The incident I wrote about was at Lake Ronkonkoma

Way before they made it an official county park , locked it up and developed it.
