lol bk i am in ronkonkoma west of the lake you talking about portion rd by the old bavarian inn

yup, that beach area, just I guess north west or so of the bavarin inn parking lot. you can see it from the inn's parking lot.

They now have all the ball fields. There in the upper area.

At the far end of that beach area, there's a row of woods that divided that park area from the state boat launching area.

At that end , one tree stood out of the water a dozen or so yards out. Back when the water level was really high back in the early 80's. Back in the good'ole days. (I think it's just about as high now, or higher)

We used to earn gas and beer money by waiting for the "druggies" to try and drive out onto the beach area, get stuck and charge $25 to drag them back to the black top.

lol i live about 5 blocks away from that boat ramp... lol but as far as wheeling goes. . pilgrim state hospital, and the old pig farms... used togo to robert moses and get on at democrat point and take it to field 5 doing about 75 at night... . thats when i used to have my s10... never gone with my dodge... it might explode

Oh, geez, now a days once in a blue moon when the wifey and I are out shopping, we grab McyDs and hit the boat ramp and eat looking at the lake.

I never hit pilgram st, but yup back on the good'ole days... .
Got onto sore thumb a punch of times and the areas in between.
Before the spring, we use to go on the beach around hot dog beach in the hamptons and run east out to the fishing docks.

We use to run some fire trails in Ronkonkoma off of the north side of motor pkwy 1/2 between where it ended by the Islip town beach at the lake and the old colony hill... and also right across from the colony hill.

We also ran Fire trails by the Commack water tower off of Indian head road (now all developed), and a bit further down by the dumps and gibeny dist. , hill climbing. The hills are still there just can't get to them now.

We use to run the river along riviera road in San Remo, over to the "pit" and fire trails up in there, boarder of Smithtown and San Remo.
Access is all gated off.

yea cant go anywhere anymore... its either gated off or developed... or scpd is watching and waiting... . at least i get that 5 min of fun on the job to wheel a little bit... the best off roading at work that i have done was in an old duece and a half with a 1500 gallon water tank in it that had a cummins on the north side of the expressway and community drive at the new hebrew high school... i climbed the hill before they built those walls roughly a 70* incline

LOL-- at least it's something.

For us, wheeling any time is snows, get out before the plows do. And the Suffolk cnty 4x4 beaches. Smiths and Montauk. We should get the state so we can legally go to the lighthouse.

Off of 112 there are some large open areas. Lots of tracks, but also as you say, SCPD is watching on and off and will seize anything driving in there.

We started looking into what RVOR parks are around in surrounding states, there's a few. Tempting, just haven't gotten the time to do set up a trip.

That looked like fun, until... . oops!

Sure was a "Hold my beer and watch this" moment! I have done similar things on a 4-wheeler. Cool song! I love the bluegrass sound!

I wheel my truck all the time, had water in the cab, blown up a few engines, clutches, tcases and several drivelines and axles, congrats to the guys that arent scared, i bought my truck for play and its a laramie, i hate seeing lifted pavement pounders, cool video... .
