I have been talking the the PDR bunch for a few weeks getting parts together to change out my leaking (under hard boost) head gasket and upping the power some, so I decide on a Stage 2 head with the O-Ring option, Studs and a Marine . 020 gasket as I'm not planning on huge boost, a PDR Custom fuel plate to replace my #4, Laser cut DV's, and 18 housing and there new totally cool lower intercooler boots. So it all get's here Thursday and Friday I tear it down and prep and paint everything, Saturday(yesterday) I install the head and swap out all the components and using the timing kit Jim Killen (TDR jimk) sent to me to bump the timing to 18 from 16 and go for a late night drive then back home. This morning going to Church I lay down on it and have a much better spool up and it's moving along good at 55 PSI but I didn't look at EGT's, then I'm going through town I realize I was in Valet mode
so this afternoon I go for some test runs, this time in full fuel mode. Power is a huge step up, I really don't know how much in H. P. but it's no slouch, EGT's..... funny here, before It would level out at 1400, now with the head, timing, plate (it's in the middle) and DV's to takes say 2-3 seconds to go from 1000-1500 degrees and is climbing like a banshee and what ever lane I'm in is covered up... . even at 100 MPH. I really never expected to get that much of a gain, on the test runs it's odd to see the power band work, start off at 5-6 PSI and it rolls out for a sec or so then it's hard on boost picking up the 1-2 shift, then at 2300 in or so (in second) both tires break loose and yell at you till about 55-60 then it fades away, passing 100 it still had me in the seat were it normally is starting the nose over. I sit and wonder what it's going to be like after the pump is worked. Thanks to PDR and especially Al as he told me that I would have a huge gain and I did.
