The book says add 1. 5 for pan drop and filter change plus 1. 5 for the regular size Mag-Hytec pan. This put it at the top of the level on the stick hot and in neutral after reverse to neutral to drive lever movements. So the transmission shifted bad and I added another. 5 qt, until it began to shift better. It took another 3. 5 qts. to make it work correctly? I talked to Bill K. and I believe he said 6qts. and that the book was wrong? What have been you other guys experiences with this? Thanks

Always seems to take me a few times driving a bit and re-checking the level to get it up to snuff on the dipstick after changing. Once it reads full and stays there, your shifting should be good and your transitions from nuetral to drive and reverse should be good too. Did you adjust both bands (carefully) when you did your oil change. I think your time and effort is very well spend on being sure you adjust both bands, and doing so carefully, as this will affect the transmission performance.

I just installed a DTT V/B this weekend, and I thought only about 6 quarts drained out. I hooked up a pressure test gauge to the line pressure port to compare before/after readings and thought I had goofed someting up because my line pressure at drive idle was only 25 lbs/in. (Should have been 75-80) #ad

I tried calling DTT Tech but they were closed. However, I then remembered that maybe more fluid drained than I thought.
I finally ended up putting in a total of 10 quarts!! Everything works perfect now and line pressure is up to new specs. #ad

11 Qts was the final amount after a pan drop/ valve body/filter/ fluid change. Final level was checked Hot, stock pan.
