Here's one for you. Ever here of this product ("Tornado")? It's sorta like fixed fan blades that go in your intake tube between the intercooler and the intake manifold. It's supposed to swirl the air and even out the flow.

A guy here in the office asked me to post this. He has just become a dealer. He says there is some shop in Texas that has been putting hundreds per month in Dodge diesels and big rigs with measurable improvements in milage and power.

Sounds to me like it's right up there with magnets on you fuel line.

I beleive you would call it smoke and mirrors #ad

I did one of these in my wife's VW Passat. They make all sorts of good claims. Personal experiece says it did not help city mileage at all. Pure hiway mileage when up several miles per gal.

The VR6/5speed epa rating is 27 hiway. Best I ever got before tornado was 24-25. ( Wife gets better, but she keeps it in double digits ). Now I can get 28 range. Did not help city at all.

Overall if I did lots of long trips, maybe worth it. For mostly local city/hiway commuting and only occasional long trips, I would NOT spend the money.

I remember a product called the "Turbulator" for motorcycles. Sounds like the same thing in a larger size. Great product(for lining a distributor's pockets).

I will only purchase one if it comes with two "Overhaul & Re-ring your engine while U drive" pellets. Right now I've been busy reading the booklet "How to convert ordinary tap water into 52 cetane diesel". (in the convenience of your own kitchen) I plan on recycling the booklet at my next oil change, if I can smash the roll of toilet paper down to where they both will fit in the housing. #ad

From what I understand a device that does what you are speaking of is one of the main bombing components on a PSD (no joke). I'm told they work very well in that application.

I have seen these do alot on wet intaked gassers (Carbs & TBIs) by helping atomize the fuel better, but on dry intakes (port fuel injected) they do nothing. I did some testing years ago putting my locking gas cap on the vehicles and making them get fuel only from the our station only. And on one old 390 power LTD I saw it get milage as high as 18. 5 MPG. On a port fuel injected Ford truck with a 351W there was no improvement at all.

IMO I don't think it would do anything on our Turbo Diesels, except come apart under the boost and destroy our engines.

I'm with TopFuel...

I think that Holset thing does a pretty good job of swirling the air in our Dodges - I guess it must get straightened back out somewhat in the intercooler. I've seen dyno tests in HotRod with these things, they impair your bottom end performance bigtime. A measurable benefit in the top end does exist (at a higher RPM than our Diesels will ever see).

One of the car magazines that I subscribe to, don't remember if it was Car & Driver or Motor Trend, did a test on them and they found no change in power or economy. Their conclusion was "save your money. "

You guys are killing me! I'm having too much fun printing these off and leaving them on my co-worker's desk.

Thanks,
