As many know there are a few games that's difficult to play on an ocean liner owing to the pitch and roll of the ship. During WW2 there was an aircraftman in the British Royal Air Force making many trips between London, England and Durban, S. Africa. On the long weary trips he knew many billiard, snooker and 8 ball players were being deprived of their favorite sport so he devised a similar game able to be played on a ship. As an avid snooker fan himself he devised a similar game, the table was triangular, the three sides of different lengths, the table flat and a single round pocket in the center. The game was played with 6 balls, two white, (one each for the two contestants, 2 blue (these if there were 4 players) and 1 red the other green, extra balls were available depending on the number of players, also to suit any of the 11 rules which were minutely detailed, (King's Rules and Regulations etc. ) To counteract the motion of the ship, all the balls were square cubes, cannon shots were allowed depending on which set of rules the players had decided on, but jump shots were entirely forbidden for any of the games. On his next shore leave he intended to have a number of the tables and equipment made, but sadly he got knocked down by a bus during the Black-Out in London and on recovery had forgot all about it, so little is known if he had even ordered sets to be made, or they could be now gathering dust in some long forgotten warehouse. That's all I could ever learn of it.
