Bug Out

TDR MEMBER
I put a AAM finned axle cover on my truck back at 8k miles and coming up on a oil change interval. During the install by not using the right wrench, I messed up a couple heads on the bolts for the AAM cover. I can find the axle cover part number all day long, but can't seem to find the actual part number for the bolts. Does anyone happen to know what that number is?

TIA

Ed

This is what i could find for your truck based on what is in your sig assusing that it is a 16 ram 3500 pickup not the C&C. These are from Moparpartsgiant.com, you can probably call the dealer near you and they can tell you what size the bolts are and you could go to your local hardware store or something and get better bolts cheaper.

I'm also not sure if the AAM Finned axle cover is different bolting wise than the factory non finned cover but I hope this helps.

If that's the case is just go to a local hardware store like Ace or Elliots or something, pull a bolt off in the parking lot and take it in and spec it out. I can't help much other than that.

I do know that when I did my afe raw aluminum rear diff they sent me M8 x1.5 inch and a half stainless steel bolts but I went to my local store and got black anodized bolts that matched thread pit h and length. They are also 6 sided Allen key style bolts.

There are two longer bolts that are there for the rear air whether you have it or not. Don't know what they are called but they take a reverse type Torx socket. So if you don't have the rear air you don't need the two longer bolts.

The two longer bolts on my truck deal with the brakes, both service and parking. They have nothing to do with my air suspension.

The 2500’s I looked at today also use those bolts. They were coil spring trucks.

Do the 3500 spring suspension trucks have a different setup than the other 3 suspensions? That would be odd, but not insane.

Starparts shows the 68149258AA for all covers on a 16 3500. They show $10 and it might be for all the bolts as the quantity required shows 1.
