AAM front axle ujoints

Anyone have ujoints dimensions handy ? (can't make search function

Work on IPhone. )

I have precision 464's I have had in stock a while...

Seems unassembled yoke measures 2. 900 ID across. The precision measure

Approx 3. 05 from outer snap ring groove across. They. Will not fit.

What's up? And what will work? Napa, spicer? Anyone have part #,s for what will work? Planned on putting this thing together tomorrow but not looking good!

I come up with 464's.

Just had the Precision 464's installed on my '03 about two weeks ago. No issues that I am aware of.

Measure the thickness of the snap ring. The grove is likely wider than the ring. With that being said, it's hard to account for . 075 per side difference.

I do know that there has been discussion about the rear end U-joints being . 010 smaller than the Precision replacement. I have found that the correct drive line u-joint for my truck is a 1485 versus the standard 1480. Try to find one... There could be a special joint for the axles also.

I can't remember the number, but I put Precisions in mine and I know for sure that I just put the 464 axle u-joints in my brothers '05 two weeks ago.

I saw a post from search funtion a while ago that gave the cross dimensions and measurements but cannot find it now. It talked about some of the precision axle joints having the wrong caps on the correct crosses.



joints on this 04. 5 I'm working on are siezed like nothing I have ever seen before. Wish I had farmed this one out

The AAM 1485 WJ front axle u joint has 1. 375 caps and 2. 920 yoke lock up. So S. Morris, your measurements are correct for the yoke. The only cross reference I can find is for Neapco part 3-0485. If the Precision measures around 2. 920 or less outside the snap rings, with them installed on the caps, you should be good.
