Im thinking about buying a used power pup from the classifieds and i was wondering if there was anyway to make sure that the program is still in there before I hook it up to download into my truck. Ive heard storys of guys actcidentaly erasing there cumputers. TIA

I bought mine used. I don't know how someone would erase their computers unless they lose power somehow during a download. I think it works but locking into your vin code when you download a level. It will unlock when you put back the stock program. As long as they have done that it should work fine. Mine works great and it was about half-price.

There is a thread going here regarding this problem. It seems a little suspect to me. I spent hours reading old threads on the PP and this is the only instance I can come up with on the boards. I bought mine used also and zero problems.

You have to decide if a few bucks in the pocket is worth the risk to you.

I purchased my power pup and am very upset for doing it. The box it's in says it's upgradeable online, and is up to 230 hp. This is not true. I purchased it, and when I contacted BullyDog for the upgrade to crazy larry I was very let down. My box is for a 2005 model, so it's not very old. They told me that was their older style programmer, and to have the crazy larry, I would have to purchase the triple dog downloader. It just kinda sucks since I bought this box for that program, and now they won't honor what's on the box the programmer came in. I guess I should add a positive note to all this. The 130 hp program makes nice power. I want 13's, so the 130 just won't cut it.

You should be able to get the crazy larry. Your downloader just can't be upgraded over the internet. PM and I'll se if I can help you.

I was told you could send in the older model and have it re-flashed with the Crazy Larry program. I wish it was available for the early HPCR's.

That said, I also have been told that the older downloaders have more agressive programs. A good thing if you ask me.

I called BullyDog and was told the only way I can now get the crazy larry program is to buy the triple dog. They no longer upgrade the power pup. If someone else has had a different experience, please let me know. I've actually spoke to them multiple times about this because I'm a little upset.

I just picked up a new PP tonight and am running the "performance" mode. There is a port on the box for upgrades. Does anyone know the true HP and TQ for this mode on the Dog? Thanks, Doc

Mine has the port also. It also says you can upgrade online. . Not true. . I called Bullydog again today, and was told that connection was for their use only. . They told me to sell it and get the Triple Dog if I now want the Crazy Larry program. . The only other companies I've dealt with for upgrading was Edge and TS Performance. . They were happy to help me with upgrades and tech at any time. Not so with Bullydog. Just a little frustrating to spend good money on a product that doesn't do what's stated on the box. If it were a couple years old, I might understand a little more, but this is a 2005 box.

Yes, SLJOLLEY said he would check into it for me, and let me know if he can somehow help. . JClaflin, I wish they were still doing that. .
