Swapping 23cm housing in twins to 26cm.

has anyone noticed genosgarage is no longer stocking AFE they are using s&b not bashing I have been always happy with AFE. also looks like they have a cheap throttle pos sensor cheap. is that the Timbo version?

Yeah, I asked Geno's about the absence of AFE products and that person said they wanted to sell AIRAID products also. When they did, AFE said no-way, you either sell our stuff only or you are not an AFE dealer, so they dropped AFE. I'm very happy with the AFE products. I use the stage 1 housing with the pro-guard 7 filters. I usually stock an extra filter to rotate with. That gives me ample time to clean, dry, and oil. I guess they are doing better with the AIRAID stuff on the later trucks, but I'm sorry they dropped the AFE products.
Regards, Mike.

I think Geno's is selling what makes them the most money. A while back we put a couple of low fuel pressure warning lights (made for 98. 5-07) in some 99-02 trucks, worked good they already saved one pump. So I put one in my 04. When it is cold out the light looks like a christmas tree, so I called them. They said the newer trucks can drop to one pound line pressure when you are on it and not bother them, making this product useless on a 03 or newer. They could have said that before they took my money. Well I should have checked minimum fuel pressure myself instead of trusting them. So I wasted my time, money and I have a hole in my dash.

I have never had a problem with Genos or any product purchased from them. I do my own research before any purchasing and then I can only blame myself if it doesn't perform like I think it should. Do the searching then buy, Hold yourself accountable.

Bigiron, you got it right. And as far as filters go, if you are in real dirty conditions and wont your motor to last you had better stay with a good stock air filter. Just had to say that about filters.

Not necessarily "Stock", but a quality paper filter. NAPA 2790 (BHAF) or a myriad of other large cylinder filters that would fit.

In the 2 1/2 years I worked at an independent shop that only worked on Diesels, every single truck that came in with an oil-type air filter had been eating dirt - damage to the compressor fins and dirt accumulation on the intake.

Yes Sticks, that is what I should have said. If you have to have more air, get a set up from a large farm tractor and fashion it to fit and you would be set to go without your motor having to eat dirt. Harvey

We run oiled filters in way tougher environments than many of our trucks will ever see and I have never seen a issue with a filter like that at all. We have lost motors in our sprint cars for many other silly reasons but wear due to a "oiled" filter was never one of them.

I have always ran one in my truck from the first day I bought it. Back then all we had was the paper BHAF and a drop in K&N for performance filters. I used the K&N early on and know they worked well as long as the factroy box provided a tight fit(which many of them did not do) and even K7N realized that and later added some weather stripping to help seal the box better.

I moved on from that drop in filter to the early Stage 1 AFE with the "Mega-Cannon" filter and had that for years until I bought the Stage 2 with a "Mega-Cannon" or Inverted Top(as they call it now) and still have it now. One thing many people forget with the oiled filters is they are only as good as the person who maintains them. Clean them and over oil them and you get residue all over from the turbo to the IAT sensor,do not oil them enough and they pass dirt and contaminents right through. So one has to take time when cleaning and reoiling them or they will have issues, like what many have complained here about.

I have tried many different air boxes looking for that little edge when we go to dyno rips and have at one time had many of the top brands and resold them when they didn't live up to the hype. I have YET to find one airbox that will outflow or perform the AFE Stage 2 I have still on my truck. Even the highly touted S&B fell short by 7hp on the jet when we were playing with air boxes. The S&B box is a sturdy unit and looks good but I didn't want looks I was looking for power.

As for Geno's loosing AFE,thats a shame as they have a good quality product. I will keep my opinion on AirRaid to myself and just say their box,or AEM's,will never see the light of day in anything I ever own. I can understand why they dropped AFE if they tried to strong arm them but there are way better systems out there than AirRaid to put in their place.

I thank it is great that the oiled filters work for you. All that I know is they dont work in these West Texas sandstorms and driving down dusty country roads all daylong. I have taken a new, out of the box ready to use (so stated) filter and put a dab of grease down wind of the filter. In just a short time the grease will be covered with dirt. I did try both the AirRaid and the AFE with the same results. I gave them a second chance and cleaned them by the instructions and the same thing. A regular filter will have some dirt on a dab of grease but far better than the oiled ones.

I may be missing something or doing wrong but this is what I have found. By the way, I will give you a deal on some filters.

Again. .

The "oiled" filter your talking about,so we do not confuse anyone else here in this thread, was it a "drop-in" style using our factory air box or did you use a purpose built aftermarket system with a "oiled" filter. There is a huge difference as fit of the "drop-in" type air filter and the factory air box was pitiful for a good tight seal and a good aftermarket systems fit is a ton better. I have recieved some PM's asking me about that and since no one asked you I felt it needed to be asked.

The last one was a AFE (got it from Geno's). I suppose if you arnt in a real dirty settings it would be OK. It just let too much dirt by for me. About a third of my driving is on well traveled (oil field) dirt roads. All tractors that run in the dirt will have two filters, one on the inside of the other. After I had gone back to the regular filter I was telling my diesel repairman what I had found. He told me he had customers that had lost their motors over this very thing. They were also on dirt roads.
