Im new to diesels I have been reading and learning on this list now its time to buy I found a 04 325/600 auto, quadcab. 2wd trailerpackage. crome. grillwith cassette this a ST model the price is 29130 is this as good as i will find, or should I wait for a 05

You should be able to buy at or below dealer invoice and keep the rebates. Don't negoiate from MSRP. You can find dealer invoice pricing from many of the online car pricing websites. You can also get a $500 Farm Bureau discount in most states. You have to be a member for 30 days before closing the deal. In AZ, the cost to join is $35.

They go at or below invoice or walk. Print a report for the truck you want. Forget the lot deal unless you can verify price. Order exactly what you want. The wait is hard, but you will get a better truck for less $$.

The small difference between ST and SLT would be worth thinking about. Get the exact interior, paint, gear ratio, transmision, etc. .

The rebates for 2004 have been extended. It could be that you order now and end up with the next model year truck with same price. I would order now with a dealer who would refund my deposit for any reason. (most good dealers will do this)

I wish you luck, remember to walk away and let them chase you with better terms.

LCrawford,

Tomygun has had A LOT of good reference here... . he's midwest somewhere... . but worth the trip I hear.

I went to Butch Wilmes @ Dishman Dodge in Spokane... ... "BIGBOB" gave me the referal. I got my '04. 5 for $1000 UNDER invoice, all rebates and another $500 off for joining the Washington State Farm Bureau ($15) for a savings of $4000 after I spec'd the truck out and ordered it. (see my signature).

Don't know what part of the country yer in ... maybe check and see if there is a local chapter and join-up and get some "hands on" info?

new to deisels?

One reason to buy a diesel is the longevity they offer. Forget price for a moment and ask yourself, Is this the truck with the options I want?, In 8 years will I still like it? If you plan on keeping your truck, make sure you order or find the truck you want, after all they can go for over 300,000 miles, along time to say I should have got the... and the... ect. Now if this could be you, go find a truck you really like, you won't have to post and ask if the truck is ok, you will know, and negotiate from the invoice price up. The dealer should be happy to show you the invoice. Be sure to match the vin numbers. Have fun. My 04. 5 came out the door, minus 3500. 00, -1000. 00 -recent college grad rebate and -military rebate. The starting negotiating number was invoice price.

Hey all! I'm battling with my dealer now. He has a longbed QC 6 speeder (not exactly what I would order, but 6 speeds are not around New york city!) that is stickering for 39,000. I got him down to 33,900, but that's with the incentive already. My research shows this truck should invoice at a little more than that (KBB.com). I'm going to contact tomeygun and see what he says.

I don't want to give up my '92, but it's time!

dealer

Wayne M, Cross the bridge into jersey, take tpke north to route 3 west to 23 north to sussex, Find Franklin Sussex Automall, ask for Jim Fischer, deal from invoice then subtract the incentives. a bit of a ride but it should save you a few or more thousand. Ride is about 1and 1/2 to 2 hours.

Personally, I think they are asking too much. For $2K more I got a 04 3500 4x4 ST 6 speed, and that was in 03. Plus, it was a 305/555 ... whew! imho

I would echo the opinion getting exactly the truck you want. Or save a bundle and buy used.

Thanks Steve! I looked at his inventory online (has lots with 4. 10 rears???) but no transmission details. I will call Him. The truck I'm presently after is at Flemington. I was thinking about going to Space farms with the kids and I have a day off coming this week-hmmmm

Wayne M. Space farms is 15 to 20 minutes away from dealer. Call dealer first, tell him what you want, they own a least one other dealership that I know of, if they have what you want I'm sure they can have it in sussex for you to look at. Happy hunting.

Steve, I called today but Jim was off. I'll try again tomorrow. I think the other dealer you speak of is Dover Dodge, another truck specialist. I don't think they are in the dealing war though.
