I've located a willing member and we're currently discussing swapping our gears or axles. A few questions; any input or comment on the issue is appreciated.
What has been the historically preferred method for the swap; swapping axle assemblies or swapping carriers? I just did front axle seals, (all four) ball joints, and (greasable) u-joints last summer, so I'm wanting to keep my front axle and all it's new components right where it is now. He has a few more miles on his. What should I be looking for? If we meet at a driveline shop and swap carriers, what kind of expense can we expect? A good driveline shop will tell either of us if there's anything weird with the other's parts, won't they? Anything else you can think of that may help is appreciated. Thanks.
