has any one done this and does it help...

i saw on www.powerbypoole.com they have a CNC'ed piece that said it would help air flow... . but just wondering what ill effects would happen. .

Without functional grid heaters I would have been stranded several times. My dad has a ford 6. 9 and is jealous that my truck starts every time in one second! BTW my truck was outside all night with not block heater and it started when 24 below 0! I allowed the grid heaters to cycle an extra time before attempting to start it up. I am also all Amsoil synthetic in everything.

I removed mine. I didn't notice anything significant.

It does cool off slithly faster at idle, and returns to lower EGT's when you lift of the go pedal, but, as far as cruising, and WOT EGT's, they didn't change enough to notice.

If I were doing it again, I would leave them in because they act like a screen to keep turbo parts from entering the motor. :)

Merric, what kind of ambient temperatures do you see way down there in Laredo? Up here in the frozen north, grid heaters are more than a brken parts screen. :-laf

It's 75* right now, got down to a chilly 67* last night.

Generally we have 3-6 days below 35* down here.

I don't have a block heater either so as to keep underhood a little cleaner.

If it doesn't start,, I've got some ether to shoot at it...
