Hey guy's just wanted to check with ya'll before I get on the road for my treck to South Florida for Thanksgiving. The drive should be about 800-1000mi. I have a brand new 2004 (2000k now 2500-3000 miles by the time I leave) 3500, 4x4, dually, jake brake, with 4. 10's and a 6speed. What do I need to do before I leave? Should I change the oil yet? Also how safe is it to really go 7500mi between oil changes? Dose this thing have some sort of BETTER filtration system? I have never let a vehicle go that long between oil changes! I will be towing a 25ft fattbed with a Massey Ferguson 243 with a back hoe attachment. If I was a bettin man I would guess that both the tractor and trailer weight should be below 12k? I will probably run about 200 mi the frist evening and then the rest from there. Thanks in advance!

Happy Thanksgiving!

If it were me I'd change the oil before the trip if it hasn't been done already. Personally, I will probably go with the 7,500 mi oil changes although it has been getting changed more than that so far. Your truck sounds just like mine and you are gonna love the way it tows:D . Good luck.

Make sure that all of your tiedowns are strong and tight - you wouldn't want your cargo left behind! ;)

I just got back from a little [~3500 mi] trip pulling our fifth-wheel [14K+] and found that I had to be a bit cautious when pulling away from a dead stop to avoid having all loose stuff shift to the rear.

You're in for an enjoyable trip.

Happy Turkey Day to you, as well.
