Drove my truck around today and it was fine. Started it up in the afternoon and the abs and brake light come on on the dash. I shut the truck off and the ABS will not shut off under the hood it just continues to run ( I think it is the ABS it has all brake lines running to it on the drivers side). I opened the fuse box under the hood and pulled the 40amp fuse and it stopped squealing. I drove home and the brakes seemed Ok but the dash lights are still lit. I checked for visible leaks and cant find any and my fluid was a little low so i added but still nothing. The time is 6:15PM eastern time on Tuesday November 27,2001 Thanks In Advance... ... . Everytime I put the fuse back in it starts to squeal.

I cant help with the problem, its a new one to me but when my 96 ABS lights wouldnt go out no matter what I tried I unplugged the ABS computer as a last resort. If you get desperate its under the dash directly under the radio mounted vertically with the plug at the top (at least on a 96) remove drivers knee bolster to get to it. Didnt make any difference in the way it drove.

Good Luck

@ 2 months ago. It seems to me that there is a relay stuck somewhere because the abs stays on even with the key out of the ignition. the only way to stop it is pull the fuse. Any relays anyone knows about before I buy a service manual?????????????????

A short time after I replaced my batteries, my 4-wheel drive indicator light came on and, sometimes, so did my ABS light. After a lot of frustrating failed attempts to find out the cause of this, I discovered that when I replaced my batteries, I penetrated a wire bundle with the outside battery clampdown bolt on the driver's side because the Optima battery was not as tall as the stock battery. I damaged four wires in the bundle.

It's a long shot, but maybe the same thing has happened to you.

Radixr is my god for today.

For the last 4 months or so my abs and brake lights have been on. Everything was checked and double checked. I replaced my rear wheel speed sensor, fuses and checked all brake lights... nothing. After reading your last post I ran out the door and began removing the drivers side battery and tray. All my problems had started when I changed my battery to an optima. About an hour and a little bit of tape and all was better. Radixr you are awesome! Thanks a bunch!

Just a note to everyone else... . If you change to an Optima battery shorten the mounting bolts about an inch to prevent them from drilling into your wires.

it appears that after testing that my controller with the 2 plugs in it on top of the hydraulic unit has gone bad.
