First off, the brakes need replacement and were (are now most definately) getting replaced tomorrow. Tonight when I drove the truck to town for dinner my ABS started acting up, it is applying at every stop (bone dry pavement) around 15mph down to approx. 5 mph. Higher speed braking and braking ability/power is normal as is the feel. The ABS and BRAKE light came on as I pulled up the driveway. What should I be looking for? Thanks for any input!

Check your sensors on the wheels. Sounds like one might be loose. Sensors should be in a hard fixed position to monitor the wheel rotation. If the sensors are loose and move, then it is possible that at low speeds the sensor could be rattling and this movement might possibly sync up with the wheel rotation for an instant and the system would think the wheel to be locking up. You could have a broken wire to a sensor also that might cause this. Since the brakes are getting replaced, it should be an easy check with the wheels off. ;)

I had an 01 that did that and nearly ran me through the side of a building. happened after schwabs messed something up and my wheel almost fell off. i offer no help though, a couple weeks after that happened the outcome was a totaled truck that spent 16 hours under water, just thought id share. deffinitely something you need to get fixed up

From the service manual "Pedal pulsation is caused components that are loose or beyond tolerance limits.

The primary cause of pulsation are disk brakes rotors with excesive lateral runout or thickness variations, or out of round brake drums. Other causes are loose wheel bearings or calipers and worn damaged tires. "

I read somewhere that worn disc pads can cause low speed pulsation when applying the brakes.

Well the front brakes and rotors have been replaced. My braking is normal now, but my ABS/BRAKE light is still on. I cleaned both front sensors, so well see if the lights go away. If not, maybe we'll pay a visit to the dealer. Thanks for the help.

Is your speedo needle bouncing around? may want to check the sending unit at the top of the rear end it controls the speedo and ABS
