I have check all fuses and they are OK. MY shop Manual says to use a scan tool to scan for codes.

Since I do not have a scan tool, any one have any idea what I should look at next. .

It is on our 98 1/2 2500 cummins with an auto and only rear ABS.

The brakes are in great condition, and everything seems to work fine, just the 2 lights are on.

Thanks

Bob

Check the sensor thats in the rear differential. My son had to replace his. You might get by with just pulling it out and cleanning it.

He took his to the dealer for them to read the code and thats what it showed. So he bought the part and replaced it his self. I forget how much it was but they are not that expensive.

I had the same problem - ABS and Brake light on. The RWAL controller uses two inputs, Brakes applied (Brake Pedal Switch) and VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) located on the rear axle. The Speedometer also uses the VSS. In my case the Speedometer was working correctly, no glitches. I reached up under the dash and unplugged the brake light switch and replugged it in, and all is well now. You might want to give it a try.

Some have 2 sensors for speed one for the speedo and one for the ABS. You can take an ohm reading of the sensor in the rear diff if it is open that is your problem I can't remeber the acutal specs for resistance of the sensor but the normally fail fully open.

My Dodge Service Manual for '99 Rams states that there is only one VSS for '99's - I dont know if there are others for different years. I also know that most of the cheaper OBDII Scanners only read the generic codes and will not read the ABS or SRS codes.

The $149. 95 Actron that I bought would not read the ABS codes, but my friend has a $3000 Snap-On scanner that will... Go figure. .
