ABS and BRAKE light???

When I start my truck it "dings" one more time after the normal "ding ding ding" and the ABS light and the BRAKE (the one that shows the E brake is on) come on for about 2-4 seconds then goes away. Anyone have any reason for this? I checked the brake fluid and it was a LITTLE low, topped it off and still doing it????

We've disussed this in the past and it's normal.

As for why, well thats anybody's guess!

I've had the ABS come on, on my trucks and jeep..... its all the same system... .



Once this happens its goes through this check for 10 or 15 starts and than clears this code from the system and than quits... . I see this a lot more on the jeep as I get it sliding around on the ice here now that winter has set in..... and I like to play some... .



For me each time its been preceded by the abs coming on when I slid it on the ice and touch the brakes... . you can feel and hear the pedal pulse from the ABS action... .



I can only assume someone has driven it and had a wheel slip for a fraction of a second and this is what is taking place... . (during braking)

Come to think of it, one of the S/W updates they did on my truck did away with the extra ding.

I believe that you've had the ABS system come on... . in other words work... . because of wheel slip... . this does trigger an event... . which later goes away..... If you have 15 or 20 starts from the time this started... than I can only assume there is some other issue... . and you should take it in... .
