My ABS and brake lights have been on for a while. Thinking it was the sensor on the rear axle, I priced it at the dealer and found it to be an $87 item. I went home and removed and cleaned the old one (I'm cheap) and hoped that it would solve the problem. No Luck. I disconnected the ABS module and connected it again. Still on. I was hoping there was a code I could read from the light, but that seems to be only for the rear anti-lock trucks. (mine has the 4 wheel ABS) My service manual says a "DRB scan tool" needs to be connected to the connector under the dash. Anything else I could try (other than buying the tool at the dealer or taking the truck in)?

Thanks

DRB scantools are several thousand dollars, so that may not be the best choice. On the other hand, you would be very popular with local TDR members.

I have had the ABS/Brake light come on a couple of times on my 96, and every time it was caused by me knocking loose a vacuum line while working on the truck. Look on the firewall around the brake booster and see if any hoses are disconnected.

Bighammer, using an ohm meter check to see if you have any resistance at the speed sensor in the diff. I cant remember off my head the readings you should have , but when mine went bad i had no readings(open). This seems to be common, good luck. :p
