Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Question on the 6 speed

I'm not sure what caused it but I had the same condition with my truck right before I did the brakes. The ABS light stayed on and the parking brake light which normally blinks while it and the truck are running both stayed on. The night before was raining and the next morning when I started the truck was much colder, below freezing. After about 20 miles and a restart they reset to normal. If your brakes are good I wouldn't worry much. Mine were way low and needed replacement. I haven't seen this condition since I put on new pads and rotors.

Brake and ABS lights

On my 89 this occurred when the fuse for the brake light circuit blew due to a intermittent short in the trailer tow 7 way connector. Believe me it was tough to find the problem. Might take a look to see that something isn't amiss there. Ken Irwin

Was up sledding today and when we left the lot I noticed my parking brake and ABS lights were on. Any ideas what has caused this condition? Thanks

Although numerous conditions have been found to cause this, failure of the rear wheel speed sensor is the most common culprit.

The night before they stuck on, I was in axle deep snow sloshing around trying to get unstuck. It also was below zero that night and very cold day yesterday. You think maybe I got some snow packed up in there where it shouldn't be and it will correct itself once it warms up and melts? Thanks

P0500 (M) No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal A vehicle speed signal was not detected.

My lights were on for a while (I do not like ABS) before the code showed up.

So I was looking over the truck and I noticed a wire on the front left side that attaches to the back of the caliper, is shredded. Didn't have time to mess with it but does that sound like what might have caused it? Thx

my parking brake light and abs were on, and it ended up being the fuse. put the same size fuse in, it popped again. put a little bigger fuse in and all is well now. all trailer brake wiring is okay. at the time when the abs and parking brake lights were on, i had no brake lights. hope that works. ive have also heard there is a abs sensor in the rear that likes to go out from time to time.
