I am having braking problems and could use some suggestions on how to disconnect the ABS. I have replaced the Hydraboost 2 times and both do exact same thing. I believe it is in the ABS system. Occasionally when moving very slow they pedal goes hard and you can't stop the truck. It has only happened at speeds less than 5 MPH. I have also flushed the power steering fluid. I now have the fuse out for the ABS and it hasn't happened yet. Only problem is the Speedometer trip meter and overhead computer doesn't work without this fuse. Is there anyway to disconnect the ABS without loss of everything else?

OK... ..... Now mines does the exact same thing. I thought I was the "Lone Ranger" on this issue. There has to be a fix other than bypassing it!!!!!!!!!!! Replaceing the sensors in the front and rear dosent change a thing. Bleding the system also does not change the problem nor fix it. Someone has had to have fixed this issue before

I talked to the people at Hydraboost and they have never heard of this happening. It is scary when you are stoping and all of a sudden you have no brakes as you roll through a intersection.

Try having that happen, with a loaded (corn) C-70 straight truck. ALMOST had a loaded cement mixer hit me in the drivers side door. :--) :--) Something happend, and lost vacuum assist. Pedal went hard.

He was able to avoid hitting me, but not by much.

Sounds Electircal, and if changing the sensors on the front and rear does not do it, then I would look into the ABS control module having an issue.

To disconnect the ABS, try removing fuse #11 from the Power Distributiion Center under the hood, and reinstall the ABS fuse in the dash fusebox. This should keep the speedo working on the all-wheel ABS trucks.

I pulled the 40 amp fuse for the ABS under hood and the speedo, overhead computer and cruise is now working again. This caused the brake light to come on but if I have dependable brakes I can live with it on until I get better weather so I can determine the problem.

The problem may just be dirty speed sensors on the front wheels. Some people had been able to pull them and clean them and maybe the trigger wheel. They are magnetic pickups and dirt, especially iron ore can build up and cause them to misread.
