2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Abs/brake Light On

For the past couple of days, the ABS and the BRAKE light have been coming on. I an turn off the ing. and turn it back on, and they will go out; but, then come back on within a few minutes. The brakes seem to work ok. Sometimes they do not come on at all. What is going on??? I am getting ready to go to Colorado, and do not want to get on the road and start having trouble. My truck dose the same thing. But when the ABS light and brake light come on my truck the blower motor, power windows and AC go dead then the door chime goes off with door closed. Like you say I have to turn key to off position and start up again and then it clears out. Anybody have any suggestions on what to look for? Mine will not do it all the time I drive it. Maybe 2-4 times a week.

I agree, the speed sensor located in rear differential caused my abs light to do the same thing.

Had same problem. ABS and brake light on all the time. Everything else, cruise, speed odometer and everything else worked fine. The speed sensor fixed mine. If you have an ohm meter, you can measure across the two pins. A good one will read 1700-1800 ohms. Mine was dead open.

hi guys ,

i had this problem the other day ,towing a hire trailer my abs brake light came on ,wow how exciting with a 3 tonne trailer in tow , checked all possible problems ,fluid levels etc ,then the simple thing , the fuse box . had a blown fuse ,not sure what number but changed it and light was gone . no more problems check the simple things first
