both of these lights flash when i hit my cruise set button. they used to only flash when it was raining and wet. now, it is doing it when dry as well. dealer put in a new sensor in the rear differential. still, the light came on, so they pulled the sensor and put the old one back in. i crawled under there after a drive in the rain and the top of the differential was fairly dry. any thoughts on what this could be? the connection at the pigtail on the frame rail was nice and solid. thanks. scott.

Vacuum?

The ABS and brake lights will come on if there is a vaccum leak. Since the speed control servo is vacuum controlled, could it possibly be vacuum related? Just a WAG and something to check.

My ABS and brake light came on and stayed on with a bad wheel sensor. Probably a lot ot things can cause this to happen. Just have to narrow it down to the faioure!!!

shendren ~Sorry no one responded to you before now!!!:--) I was out of town all last week and just got back. Oo. I am not an ABS Guru so I cannot answer you about the function of the senor on top of the differential. Have to read the service manual to figure that out. I do know each front wheel has an individual senor to detect when the wheel stops spinning meaning it is skidding and the other side is not. When that happens it release the brake on that side so the wheel starts rolling again. You probably already knew that soI am not sure why I wrote it except to make sure you did.

Like I said I thought each wheel front and rear had indvidual sensors. I do know one thing the first time at slow speed, maybe 15 miles an hour, I hit the brakes hard. An older indvidual did a U turn in front of me. The dang thing banged so load it scare the bejesus out of me. I guess that was them locking and unlocking the brakes. But I did not T bone the guy in the drivers side door!!!Oo.

Maybe one of the better ABS Guru's can answer this for you. Cone on guys I know you know?

Bob is correct.

Each front wheel has tone wheel (4WABS). The rear axle has an exciter ring in the diff housing that monitors both rear wheels. They all serve the same purpose, to measure the rotational speed of the wheels.
