was behind Axekicker a couple hours ago (don't ask why an unBOMBed 24 was in front of me)--different thread ---little Hyundai cut in front and his OE rear tires howled,smoked, and QUIT ROTATING! ---(dry hot Las Vegas pavement) no contact/no fowl!

This is true.

Had a new furd explunder hits the brakes in front of me at the 288 hwy 59 interchange in houston and I had to lock them up. I was hauling 30 joints of 2 7/8 tubing. the brakes on the truck locked up (thank God) and the pipe slid up into the headache rack of my trailer and put a slight bend in it.

I would have hated for my Ranch hand replacement bumper to total out a new explorer, but if it did, oh well.
 
Mine locked up on me a few wks back too. Had to rotate the tires they flat spotted so bad. Dry concrete; the skid marks are still on that main street. It's supposed to be 4W ABS.

Curious how prevalent this is.

I don't really care if they lock up, I think it stops better w/o ABS anyway. I just want them to be predictable.
 
The 3rd day I had my new truck I was driving down a rural 55 mph 2 lane following a black chebby pick 'em up in my black drooly,there was a van in front of him haulin' a real nice Hog on a little trailer. The hog hauler was apperently looking for an adress and pulled off to the shoulder to let the black truck behind him go by,you guessed it,he didn't notice there were 2 black trucks back there. He started to pull out just as my front bumper was even with his trailer,luckily there was no oncomming traffic as I wouldn't have had anywhere to go! I STOMPED those brakes and yanked the steering wheel hard,he couldn't have missed me by more than an inch or two.

THE BRAKE PEDDLE MODULATED AS IT WAS SUPOSED TO WITH NO LOCK UP with a hard swerve and heavy braking this is when it would have if it could have. Fortunatly I wasn't pullin' anything. My old truck would have been sideways and I don't think I could have got it back on that narrow road,I'm glad my 3500 came with 4 wheel anti-locks standard equipment.

Just wanted to share my experience with you.

Self installed goodies,
OEM Running boards,Mud flaps&Bed liner, Tinted windows,Jacobs E-Brake,BD Torque Loc. Whimpy stock class 4?? hitch fell off-replaced it with a Super Hitch(1200# tongue,15000# trailer) on the house from DC thanks for the recall!!

Installing-Trailer brake controller.

Next-BD Pressure loc and one of those really cool mag hytec transmission pans.

I thought no one was watchin!
The lock-up surprised me too. I've had a few quickie-stops in past months and the ABS did it's job. If it would have "modulated" this time I'd of smashed that little furrin' car flat #ad
Not to mention the sound-o-squealin' rubber under an 8000lb truck in the rear-view-mirror convinced her to mash-the-gas and turn right prior to Armageddon #ad
You just can't duplicate the pulse-poundin' gut-wrenchin vomitory response that happens to "victims" just after hearin' squealin'-rubber or the clack-clack of a pump 12-gauge #ad
