Got a early 90 4x4 to keep my 98. 5 company. The anti lock light is on.

According to Dodge service manual I checked for trouble codes. Flashes

code 10, excessive resistance. I have replaced the rear wheel sensor already.

This truck had a aftermarket brake controller installed, could this cause problems?

Any advice?

First of all let me welcome you to to the TDR - nice to see new people coming on board.

I bought my '93 new in Jan of '93 and since that summer I have always had a brake controller on my truck. In fact I've had a three different ones over the last 20 years. Along the way I had an exhaust brake installed and my ABS has never been effected. Unless it was installed incorrectly, which I can not see how this would be done, that should not be the problem. I will try to see if my Tech manual has any reference to this problem and let you know what I find.

The ABS valve on the frame rail right above rear axle went bad on my truck, I just bypassed the whole ABS system, I think the brakes work much better now then they did before.

Ditto!! :D Welcome aboard... .

A few things come to mind, the only ones I've seen that can happen, that I know of.

1. The ABS valve on the frame has gone bad. It can be bypassed very easily.

2. The ABS module behind the glovebox has gone bad... . That can be bypassed very easily.

3. The PCM has gone bad. I find that unlikely as the ones I've seen that on, the Brake, Wait to Start, and ABS light are all on.

4. The ABS sensor in the rear end has gone bad, or the wires have been damaged. I see the wires torn up all the time. They'll also rub on the frame behind the fuel tank, causing a short.

Most likely, it is one of 1 or 2, maybe both. The resistance issue could be the wires, as you've already replaced the sensor..... Just some suggestions from my experience.
