2003 2500 trailer brake/signal lights not working

Question on Rear Axle size

On my 06 3500 dually, I'm getting abs and e-brake lights going on and off every few seconds along with the chime. I've checked all the plugs, fuses and wiring. Everything is ok in that respect. Today for I noticed that the speedo bounced one time. Never has done that before. I pulled the speedo/abs sensor out of the rear diff housing and cleaned it (not real dirty).

Can anyone tell me what the resistance should be across the pins on this thing? I'm measuring about 5000 ohms. I suspect this sensor may be going bad but dealer won't have time to check anything for 3 weeks.

Thanks, Duane

Manual says resistance between cavity 2 on the sensor and ground is 5 Ohm (cavity 2 is the supply line - the one on the left when you're looking at the connector).

Resistance between cavity 1 and ground should be >5 Ohm.

Resistance across the sensor itself should be 1600 - 2300 Ohm.

Thanks Ryan I'm reading 5140 ohms across the sensor, but I don't see how to check the ground with it out of truck. I think I'll pick up a sensor tomorrow anyway.

5140 across the sensor is too high (according to the manual). Actually, the manual says to check the resistance across the sensor way back at the ABS module connector. I doubt that will change the reading, though, and if it did it would only increase the resistance (and yours is already higher than spec). I've attached the relevant bit from the factory manual for 2006.

To check resistance between the connector and ground, just touch one end of the meter to the pin in the connector (not the sensor) and the other to most any substantial part of the body (unpainted, of course).

I'd forgot that I downloaded the manual, so I was finally able to find the same info you gave. Thanks for the help, I'll update when I get the sensor and get it in. Hopefully it will fix the problem.

I got the sensor from dealer, cost 10. 81+tax. Installed it and problem fixed:)

Once more TDR saves a trip to the bad place known as dealership. :D

Thanks, Duane

WOW any part from the dealer for that much is unbeleiveable!!!!! Hope that's what's wrong with mine? For ten bucks I'm going to give it a shot.

That was my opinion as well. I was going to have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, so I figured that I had very little to lose. Plus I was reasonably sure that the sensor was bad. Worked out well in my situation anyway.
