I had to make a delivery today and as I drove I noticed both the parking brake lindicator and the ABS indicator stayed on the whole time. Stopped the truck, restarted it and they stayed on again. Stopped and started again, both are off as normal:confused:  . Drove the rest of the afternoon, starting and stopping and no more problems. What gives??

There could have been a problem the PCM detected,,maybe with the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor (sensor had an erronous value at one start up),, and turned your ABS/Brake lights on. Then after a few key cycles the problem was not detected anymore, and the PCM turned the lights off.

Also,, JR2 here on the Boards had a problem similar to this,, and it turned out to be that with high idle devices.

If a Dodge/Cummins is Idled up above 1,200 or 1,400 RPM for a set amount of time the ECM/PCM assumes an error with the Rear Wheel Speed sensor and sets the Brake/ABS Lights also,, when pulling codes it will say the RWSS is faulty,, after a few key cycles the light will turn off.

Hoe this helps,,

I hope I was clear enough also,, My grammer is not always up to spec.

Sometimes it is the wiring for the RWSS. The wiring becomes cracked and will cause falut codes, but not trip the codes 100% of the time.

It's probably either the wiring or the sensor itself. You might be able to clean the sensor. I took mine out and cleaned it, it was filthy. It didn't solve my problem yet. Every now and then I still get the ABS/Brake light syndrome.

I'm going to clean the sensor again and replace the wiring harness next. If that doesn't fix it, then I'll try the new sensor.

On another note about the RWSS,, the sensor IS a MAGNET,, or some type of magnet material,, any metallic items floating around the rear-end will get stuck to the sensor and cause it to trip codes erraticly.

Like Cooker said,, it may be worth taking it out and cleaning it with a clean lint-free rag.

The RWSS is on top of the diffrential and is heldt on by two different sized bolts. Removal should take around 15 minutes first time, then about 3 minutes the second time. The sensors have a rubber O-ring and the fit is VERY tight in the differential.

Yah gotta make a face like this  when removing it. LOL,, well, atleast I did.

I'll give that sensor a cleaning, but ironically (or not) it hasn't come on since then:) - if it were a windows computer... ... ... ... . it would be nothing out of the ordinary:D . Thanks for the help!
