i recently had my brake rotors turned, and new pads installed. i was told that the brake fluid reservoir seal was missing, so i ordered a new one. today while driving, my abs & brake lights illuminated, and only do so when brakes are being used, and is hot. what would cause this? (contamination  )

thanks

dt

I had a similar problem, my abs light would come on when hitting the brakes. I found that the front abs sensor cable had come out of its bracket and was rubbing against the inside of the front wheel, wearing through the insulated cover. When I would hit the brakes the cable would short out against the wheel.

There are other possibilities but this was the problem on mine.

mine gradualy comes on along with the brake light, today while driving home, the pedal temporarily went to the floor, but no lights on. probably contamination.

tow truck came get it today, driver side drum making grinding noises, will have dealer check out again, and flush brake system, when new brake reservoir seal is installed. probably have shoes changed too.

driver of tow truck started talking diesel, and said he had a 1st gen. ctd

that got 23mpg, then traded for a 6. 0psd  (said his 454 powered 32ft. motor home had fewer problems and got better mileage) that he had for 2 weeks, traded due to injector failures :-laf (go figure), then got a 7. 3psd, and now owns a newer model dmax  .

said he liked the cummins the best!!! Oo. :D

Does that happen all the time or just when you use the cruse control??

If the latter you may need to do a fix on the rubber boot that is coming off the boost line. There is fix for the vac line that was causing me trouble. All I did was find a piece of vac hose just a bit bigger then the "t" that the boot fits over. Has to be bigger so it doesn't get suck in to the main boost hose. I cut a piece just long enough to fill the space in the boot that was collapsing. Doing this allows the vacumm to work the speed control. No more brake or abs light to look at. Dodge won't sell just the hose, you have to buy the hose harness. A whopping $175. 00. Go figure. Making your own hose or fixing what you have is the way to go.

Thanks BobV for the TSB that pointed me in the right direction

as of right now the lights are off, but usually for about 5 days to a week they stay off, then come on for a few days. lights come on with cruise on or off. thanks for the tip, i'll check the vacuum lines & t fittings.
