ABS Problem

The brake and ABS light came on while i was stopped. Brakes seemed to work - drove home. Shut motor off and heard something running under hood. The motor in the HCU (Hydrolic Control Unit) was running with the ignition off. The only way I found to turn it off was unplug the large connector from the HCU. Brakes still seem to work OK but no speedometer or odometer.

Anyone have any ideas??

It sounds like possibly an internal relay or solenoid for the HCU pump motor could have gotten stuck in the on position during a regular self test which only begins a speeds above 15 mph. Unfortunately, a Chrysler DRBIII scan tool would be needed to query the CAB for any trouble codes which could better pin-point the problem.

Thanks, John. Took the truck to a Dodge dealer and they found a shorted ABS module. Seems OK now.
