I have been chasing ABS, speedometer, brake warning light gremlins for the past few weeks. Long story but I eventually unplugged the 14 pin ABS cable from the pump top to read continuity to the speed sensor on the differential. This is the big connector alongside of a smaller connector on top of the pump.

The part of the connector attached to a huge wiring harness has some crunched and corroded spades. Probably corroded from making poor contact. Any way they are a mess. How can I repair this connector. I see in the factory manual some tools for taking these connectors apart wire by wire but no tool numbers are given and I do not know where I could get replacement components to this connector.

The spades in the hard mounted portion of the connector mounted on top of the ABS pump are in reasomably good shape.

Mike. :)

Thanks so much Mike. Found the part number for the connector. Mopar 05013961AA. I haven't called order yet so don't know if that includes the terminals or if they are separate. Be sure to ask if anyone orders.

Now more bad news I just looked things over a bit and realized that pins number 7 & 14 in the hard mounted portion on the ABS pump are gone (as corroded into dust). I missed it becase they were almost flush with the bottom of the connector. I didn't realize those two little indentions were the spades where they enter the plastic. Those are the two wires that power the whole thing.

Unless there is a replacement part for that half of the connector I am thinking I am about to be having to find out what is involved with replacing the pump controller and and all. Ouch.

But at least you saved my bacon on the wiring harness. Thanks.

You'll need the help of a dodge dealer to bleed the unit and your whole brake system since they have to acuate the unit to bleed it.

Thats what I suspected.

But good news, I just found a place that repairs the controllers. It can be removed from the pump and sent to them for repairs/rebuild for $130 with a 5 year guarantee. This process doesn't break into the hydraulics so no bleading necessary.

I am going to persue this and if I can drive the truck during the two + weeks turnaround I believe I will go for it.

All MOPAR repair kits include the plastic connector and wire pigtails about 6" long with terminals attached. The only down side is the wire colors are either one or two colors, so make your splice where you can easily see the splice and OEM wire color for future service.

Great information. Didn't know about the repair kits. Thought there would be one somewhere but I have heard several stories about people paying the dealer to change a whole harness for the sake of a bad connector. Did not make sense to an old electronics technician in the navy 1958-63.

Sent the ABS controller to ModuleMaster today. They said two buainess days from when they receive it, but I paid for the 3 day shipping and got in too late today so shipping plus turn around may be 10 days. Truck drives with no speedometer so I can still use it. Will let you know how it works out.
