ABS WARNING LIGHT & EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS

Come on after about 100 miles or so of towing: FLASH & BEEP for awhile and then stay on solid. If I stop for 1/2 hour or so and start up again lights stay out for 100 miles or so and then start warning cycle again. They do this whether I am using the cruise or not.

Brake fluid is fine and everything seems to work OK including the cruise. No codes showing.: Anyone had this problem before???

This is a stretch but I did have that exact problem one time. . on my 93!

The trailer I was towing had a short to ground on one of the tail light wires. So when the turn signal was on it blew the fuse for that and when I hit the brakes, the fuse for the brake lights blew. These were two separately fused circuits that also had the ABS on one and the E-brake light on the other.

Like I said, it's a stretch on our 3rd gens but I would check the tail lights on the trailer connection to make sure they still work.

Good luck,

Scott

Checked out fuses and all tail lights on truck & trailer work fine.

Just got info from Jim Anderson to check rear ABS sensor wires for damage & will have to check that out.

Good luck,

sounds like you have been there. Borrowing a scanning to try and figure out which one it is, do not have any confidence in local dealer. Found out by accident that dealers service "techs" did not even know where all of my grease fittings were located.
Thanks for the input!

You can ohm out the sensors from the connection at the ABS module. I don't know if the harness is the same as my '03, maybe another member can help with the wire colors and harness location.

Thanks rs that's a good idea if I can find the ABS module. Haven't had a chance to do much yet as rear axle came off of our 5th just as we were backing it up in our drive after pulling in from a 2400 mile trip. Just got that straightened out yesterday.

I had the same problem in my 03' The lights kept coming on and off for several thousand miles then i was driving down the road and my front right hub exploded and shot my wheel off down the road... Things got real interesting real fast with a 7000+ lb truck sliding sideways down a mountain road on 3 wheels. Check your hubs.
