I am in a terrible dream and can't wake up!! The Blue Beast has been destroyed. Pictures are self explanitory. Long story short rearended a tractor trailor at about 15mph with a 31ft gooseneck in tow with a 10,000lb. tractor on the back. Airbags never even came out, explain that one. Even on the tow truck it is obvious the frame is bent behind the cab, not to mention everything else is off from front to back.

The questions are many? I am a contractor and need a truck ASAP. Guessing I want an '03 or newer. Would possibly like an 'o6 Mega-cab or Quad-cab in Patriot Blue again or the Inferno Redwith a 6-speed, but dealers will not search for me because of the Employee Discount program. Any help locating one would be appreciated.

With only 98,800 miles in great condition I am assuming that it will bring about $20,000. I believe the Motor would be fine as well as the 6-speed. Any clue as to what the Buy back from Insurance company might be would be helpful. Anybody interested let me know?? Adjuster is coming out Tuesday to take a look. Located just North of Harrisburg, PA along route 322W. I am still in Denial...

Sorry about your luck. Cumberland Valley Motors has a Flame Red Mega cab dually with a 6 speed. Do a search on dodge.com for dealer inventory. Jeff

Ugh :{ My stomach turns just looking at it... I can only imagine how you feel. I suggest calling some different dealers. When I bought mine, I told them right up front I'd pay invoice minus rebates. They agreed and found one the same day and delivered it the next (75 miles away). Sounds like your dealer/s don't want to work for a small payout. Call around, someone will do it for ya.

Love that color in a dually ;)

Have you tried TommyGun? Look for him on 3rd gen he is a dealer in St. Louis

Tommy refered me to Bill, whom is out of town so you need to talk to steve (IIRC). THey have an 06, QC, DRW 6spd, white. I wanted to buy it, but cant go back to a monthly payment. They quoted me just over 35k if i remember correctly for it, and for less than 1500 (IIRC) you could have leather added to it. If I had the money and didnt mind a payment, that truck would be in my driveway :{

Glad your ok, your lucky that is all that happened and that you were not going any faster!

15 mph explains why the airbags did not deploy. It takes a high speed impact to set them off. sorry to see that truck. what a mess. I hope you can find what you need and get back to work soon. Good luck.

Sorry about the truck. I think airbags are not supposed to deploy when you're rearended. Only if they sense an impact in the front. 35K sounds like a pretty good price for a new one. I don't think used ones are going for much less.

James... ..... I think he did the rearending.

Did the weight of the load push you into the truck, or did you just not see him in time? What I'm asking, would better brakes have done better?

. . Preston. .

Basically traffic went from 50mph to 0mph in about 100yds. I was about 2 tractor trailer lengths behind an unloaded semi. He hit the brakes and then let off for about 2 seconds, then locked everything up. I got on the brakes at 1st, but did not relize the seriousness of slowing down till the last 60 ft. or so. Had i realized the hammer lane was stopping so quickly, I would have probably made it. Hillsboro trailers have excellent brakes. I set my trailer brakes to hold their own and they will. If I could have reacted quickly I could have let of the brakes for a second while rolling the rolodex on the digital brake box all the way up and then she stops in a hurry.

Glad you're okay and sorry to hear about the truck.

I'm guessing you were towing ~15K and you have a aux fuel tank in the bed - going down the road at what, ~25K GCW?

Hmm, so much for towing that heavy and the "the combo stops so much better because of the trailer brakes".

what nada said in value what i could figure out on you truck by looking at it

18900. 00 ave trade ,,, retail 22100 ,, if the est is lower than 15500 . 00 which is 70 percent if 22,100. 00 they may fix the truck depending on state guide lines ... ask your rep what percentage a car or truck totals at ... . but if they total it they will low ball you for around 11500. 00 - 12500 . 00 but telling them you know the nada value. they must pay you close to that and sales tax... keep in mind that they may use aftermaket parts(parts not made by dodge ) or used parts to fix the truck and to keep cost down and if the can't find them they will go oem (new factory parts ) ,,,, find out what your states parts law is you may still be able to get oem parts and if so they will give you a sheet to check off on what kinda parts you would like (go oem ) ... radiator and condenser and possibly inner cooler is not apart of the parts law ,,, but you could order your own stuff that means a becool radiator and nice race inner cooler ,,,,, if the frame is bent and they put it on the est tell the bodyshop you what one that was from a flooded truck and reason why is that frame was never ben hit or crashed in to another car or truck and it will be straight... if you want help on how to read the est that the insurance company give to you call me i'm the asst mgr of the bodyshop or any other ? you may have if the insurance rep gives you the run around ... i'll send you my #

Yup, they're set to deploy only if vehicle speed is 25mph+. It's been a problem on gravel roads where the brakes lock-up and the truck thinks it's going 0mph (trucks without ABS that is).

That's a sucky wreck, man. Hope all goes well getting it corrected.
