My son-in-law has a 2000 3/4 ton 2w dr. He has lost all power. They tested the turbo and it is working fine. My question is, could the "waste gate" be causing this since it is closed? Any information would be appreciated.
Fuel pressure? Low pressure could indicate a damaged vp44
Does it smoke? If so the pipes from the turbo to intercooler, and intercooler to intake may be loose, or have holes in them. The intercooler could also have holes.
Automatic or Manual
Any additional info you can give will help symtoms etc... .
Did he just put a performance box on it (Edge, TST, etc). He might have throwen a code, and it is in limp mode. Cycle the key three times without starting it, stopping with it in "on. " Then look at the ODO, it should display the codes.
I want to thank all of you who replied back on my son-in-law's problem. It was the map sensor! Also, it is a manual transmission, and I don't think it has any "add-on's" Thanks again for your help. The TDR is great!
