Hey guys, another question. I'm changing the ac accumulator and have removed the plastic retainer clips, but can't seem to get the hose's off. By looking at the new accumulator it seemss that they just slide on. Is there a certain technique to removing these lines, or do you simply just pull them off? I tried pulling them but the did'nt move, although they twist easily. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks Again

Any tool store will have the quick disconnect tools to release the lines, but if you don't have a way to reclaim the system or evac and recharge it you may as well take it to a shop and have done.

Sorry, also once the system is de-pressurized how do you re-charge it?

Thanks

Since you're obviously knowledgeable enough to repair A/C systems, I assume you really mean "what are the recharge specs". According to my 2003 factory manual, R134a capacity is 24 oz. I've attached a table of system pressures for you.

Maximum high-side pressure is 425 psi. Compressor oil is SP-15 PAG (not sure if they include this in modern recharge tanks or if you have to buy it separately... I believe it's usually included).

umm i really dont think you should be doing this yourself. you dont seem like you a familar with automotive a/c stuff. but I could be wrong i dunno. but to help ya out. bleeding the system down on the service fitting on the aluminum line. the backyard repair way is remove plastic cover and push the schrader valve open (like valve stem), careful this stuff can burn you according to a/c system books. when you disconnect the line watch out for green dye it makes a mess in the engine bay and is obvious to the epa or related enviros if you have bad neighbors to call the right ppl on ya (they're coming to my house very soon cuz I gave my county inspector lip about other things and he mentioned inspection, and potential study and cleanup. ) I would reccomend pulling a/c fuse and sending the truck to qualified a/c service facility and tell them to recharge and put the vacumm on the system to boil the moisture out. Your supposed to put the vacumm on the a/c system after opening it up. remind them when you take it to them you removed the fuse to prevent possible compressor failure from accidental use without oil in system as safety precaution if pressure sensor stuck in "ok to run compressor" position

I used interdynamics BIG CHILL in the big can. It took two cans and it has just over 25 psi in it now. I might add one more just to get it up around 35 psi. I'm not sure as to what the price was because I put it on the charge account, but I would guess around $15 to $20 per can.
