OK guys, never had something like this. A few weeks ago when the defrost was on windows got really foggy. Had a funky smell almost like antifreeze. Never had to use it again tho. Not loosing any antifreeze at all and no visable leak. Been using ac alot now. Getting a foggy mist/vapor when the ac is on. Does not really smell just a visable vapor. Not wet, or smelly just bugs the carp out of me. Compresser cycles normally as always. Any Ideas on this ????? TIA, Mike

YUP - you have a small leak in yer heater core or in a hose connection right at the core- it WILL get worse, count on it. You won't see coolent level drop cuz it will be topped of from the overflow container until it runs dry...

Which truck ? sounds like a R134 leaking from the evaporator. Had a simlar problem on a 94 Chrysler, AC system lost its oil due to a line leak, compressor went nuts and over heated/pressurized system and blew a hole into the evaporator. Smelled slightly like antifreez and had a light coat of oil on the inside of the windshield. AC continued to work until the compressor locked up(The mechanic put a can of R134A and some dye in it and said it would be fine #ad
, still haven't gotten reinbursed by that garage). Hope that this is not what is happening to your truck, it got real expensive.

One mechanic once told me R-134A is a carcinegenic (sp) (causes cancer in laboratory rats) but it's good for the environment!

Well the general deal is a bad heatercore survey says... ... Not trying to be cheep... . But can I bypass the heater core i. e. can I make a return route from one heater hose to the other. I hate to put stop leak in a cooling system... < unless someone has had good luck with that > The heatercore was replaced but out of warrantey now. Kinda sucks, my manual went with my other 92 I sold..... Thanks again guys, Mike <hope it dont get cold> Hurd

david , yes pipe out the heater core
put 1 hose into the other to bypass
core then see if thats it
a truck sitting in damp weather
not running or w/ no heater
will mist inside real bad also
