I don't know if this qualifies as a 911 situation, but down here in TX where it gets to 100 degrees in the shade its a necesity! The evaporator has sprung a leak and they want way more than I got to get it fixed. The part sells for about 150. 00 and the labor is 600. 00 The reason why is because you have to remove the dash to get to it. Has anyone out there done this before? I get the part and get the system vacuumed and recharged for less than half of what they want to fix it, and I can't stand the thought of someone else tearing apart my baby! PLEASE HELP!!

Melting away in TX

Get the FSM from the dealer , photocopy some pages and get busy. We'll talk to you in 8-16hrs depending on your dashboard R&R skills. The tech earns every penny of that $600. :)

Good luck,

I've done it to my truck. the worst part was the fact that the dealer gave me the wrong part at first. He told me that the part he gave me was what the computer showed. Well I was unpleasantly surprised to find out it was wrong. Anyway, after all is said and done it took me about 8 hours to change it out. Use a Haynes manual. It gives you very good instructions. Good Luck.

mission

hey GOT-Smoke, I just replaced my evaporator this weekend as a matter of fact. I was fourtunate enough to have the service manual for the truckwhich did help. I you want, PM me and i will give all the help you need to get this job done. I took me about six hours to do be myself for the first time. Thier are sometools that you should have to make the process easier and avoid stooping during the operation like I did. Like i said, if you need help, just holler.
