On my 2001 QC 4x4 ETH when I have the heat control knob turned to the chest and feet position, I can hear my AC compressor cycling on and off. Does anyone else have this happen to them? I know it is suppose to do it with defrost selected but I don't think it is suppose to come on with the chest/feet selected.

All settings except the single arrows (feet and dash) turn on the air as well. Believe it or not it's supposed to be a feature!?! In the defrost setting it does work very well because of the condensor pulling moisture out of the air. Defogs the windows fast...

My '01. 5 is the same. I wish I had the control whether or not to run the compressor. I don't use the feet/chest mode for heat for that reason. I guess I'm too cheap to sacrifice some fuel mileage to run the a/c when all I want to do is heat. They probabaly do that to keep moisture down in the cab. My $. 02 guess.

99 and 01. 5 are the same way. I don't like it because I can't get fresh ambient temp air thru feet and dash. I wish I could.

Thanks Ilflem for thread. Has anyone tried a push button on/off switch for the compressor? Then you would have the option of the A/C if you needed it to de-humidify the cab.

You will have AC for the defrost with Fritz's fix above just by turning the fan knob to the AC side. No need to add a switch in our already limited dash space.

There are two chest/foot positions. The one to the next right position does not turn on the compressor. It's in your owners manual.

On a 2001 Dodge there is unfortunately only one chest/foot position. I wish there were 2. I tried ripping mine apart but to a point of things getting too **** tricky when it came to getting one of the connectors off and getting the switch housing apart as well as darkness setting in. I'll live with it I guess. Thanks for the info as I may undertake it again at a later date.
