If I use my AC for more than a couple hours it turns the coils under the dash into a solid chunk of ice. Needless to say-no more cold air until I let it defrost(at least it drains to the outside)Never had this problem with other rigs,is this the new freon or do I have a problem?

You have a problem, most likely is low refrigerant or the clutch cycling switch (supposed to cut the compressor off at about 25# suction pressure and back on at about 35#) Check the compressor first to see if it is cycling on and off. The ccw switch is screwed into the accumulator with a shrader type valve and can be replaced without losing the refrigerant. bg

Also make sure you don't run on MAX or recirculate for very long. What happins is the air coming into the evaporator (the part under the dash) gets so cold, it will freeze the moisture condenced on the evaporator. Run the AC switch on the one left of center (at least mine is). Another affect running on recirculate is you start to fall asleep over time from lack of oxigen in the cab!
The old AMC's had a recirculate switch that said "use only in desert" because of the problem you are seeing!

iLLFLEM,Its been 106'F w/40% Humidity Here in the Central Valley for 3 days now, I have been running the A/C on Max (recirc) during the past days with No Problem. I agree with B. G. , I think Your A/C System is Low on Refrigerent.

40% humidity? I don't think it ever gets that low around here until it gets down to 20 deg! It is usualy around 80-100% when its above 80 deg. Luckly, I don't think we have ever seen 106F either

It proably is low on refrigerant or a stuck low press switch, but it could have a restriction in the air flow. Less air flow means less heat transfer which means a lower pressure which means a lower temp which causes the condensate to freeze, which caues even less air flow.
