Had new doors installed in the hvac box along with a new heater core and a new evaporator at a local shop, drove home last night and had oil all over the garage floor this morning , it’s coming from the ac port between the battery and the head light on the passenger side, any ideas of what wet wrong? Also no cold air, thanks for any input

That's the high pressure port. It has a ball that has a problem seating, mine did it and replaced, never have used that port since. I never had oil out of it tho. Maybe they added oil that it did not need ?.

There’s a Schrader valve there that should have been replaced while it was discharged. Same with the low side port.

Scott, my 99 has a ball valve on the high side,Schrader on low. Did they change to Schrader on high ?. What year ?. The OP did not specify what year his truck is.

On my '01 a few years when I disconnected the high pressure gauge, the port leaked and I couldn't make it stop. The leak wasn't very much, but it would continue to make bubbles when sprayed with a soapy water solution. Finally, after connecting and disconnecting the high pressure gauge, it stopped on its own. While it was leaking I could see a ball valve and a seal - the seal was off center. When it stopped leaking, the seal was centered.

Fast forward a couple of years and I took my dash apart to replace the heater core. Before recharging the AC system, I decided to be responsible and replace the high pressure port valve. I charged the system with refrigerant and when I removed the high pressure gauge... it leaked again! No good deed goes unpunished. I reconnected and disconnected the high pressure hose a couple of times and the leak stopped. Long story short, I think the port valves are problematic.

Now, anytime I disconnect gauges I always check for leaks with a soapy water solution.

Did the local shop put the plastic cap back on the charging port near the battery, in the location you described? Where there's a bad valve there, the cap will reduce but not eliminate a leak from that port. I've seen some occasions where the port's plastic cap wasn't put back on. It's not common, but it's lazy work, kind of tire installers not putting the valve stem cap on when they install tires.
