My 03 ac does not blow cold air. The pump kicks on and never shuts off, but the vents blow hot air. The ac lines going into the cab are ice cold (ice on the line). Coincidentally, the passenger floor board is soaking wet. It does not smell like antifreeze. However, it has been raining for several days pretty much non stop. I am curious if these problems are related or if they are two different issues? Also, after reading some posts it seams that the vent door has been notorious for breaking. Would this cause the ac vents to blow hot air and could it somehow be related to the wet floor board. It appears that there is a drain located on the fire wall. I inspected that and used a coat hanger to see if it was clogged and nothing came out. If the vent door is bad, how big of a repair project is it? Do I need to take out the dash to do it, or pay the dealer? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I see a couple of things here.....

1 - the drain for the evaporator is plugged and the water is on the floor. . this drain could be allowing the evaporator to freeze solid with ice and not cool the truck... .

2 - when the system is low on 134a a low pressure switch will not allow the compressor to start or run, to prevent damage to the compressor... . so you have some 134a

3 - the freeze back in the line tells us there is some 134a and the evaporator isn't removing the heat from the ducts and moving the heat to the 134a, thus the freeze back... . when you move the hot/cold knob on the dash a blend door mixes hot air and cool air to get the proper temperature air... .

Remember that when the unit is in defrost, the A/C runs to remove the water from the air, thus sending dry, warm air to the windshield... .

So I see 2 problems, 1 - fix the drain, 2 - fix the air door or blend door... . as needed... .
