AC compressor clutch won't engage. Except when done with 12v applied directly.
so far have replaced dash control unit to no avail. charge is OK, heater controls work fine, blower and ducting seem to work fine.
When AC button on control is engaged, the light comes on but the compressor clutch does not engage. Took it to the dealer yesterday
and spent $130 for diagnosis and recommendation was to replace the compressor. I don't think it's the compressor because I can activate
by manually applying 12v to clutch. What am I missing? ECM problem? I am afraid of the dealer throwing parts at it until it empties my wallet
before problem is solved

A failing clutch will cause TIPM to disable clutch do to excessive current. Try checking voltage with clutch disconnected and see if you are getting a turn on signal.

When the ac compressor requires too much current it will cause the tipm to shut off the power to the coil. This usually trips a code(in the tipm). It is fairly uncommon for that circuit in the tipm to fail on it;s own

After further testing, it is determined that clutch has failed (open circuit).
So... where to get new clutch and/or pulley assembly?
