If the evaporator core and everything else in my AC system is working OK.
BUT, my temperature sensor probe in the evaporator core is bad.
What are the symptoms???

I have heard that the AC will continue to work until the core freezes up and then the AC will not work until the core thaws out and then the AC will START WORKING AGAIN???
Need to know before I tear the dash out again.

Any help will be appreciated

Hopefully others will chime in. From what I have learned with these sensors are that they are in the compressor control. If the core freezes it will turn off the compressor until thawed out.

The sensor is supposed to interrupt the compressor circuit (stop compressor) at a predetermined temp. to keep evap. from freezing. If it doesn't work then the compressor will be controlled by the clutch cycling switch which is supposed to cycle off at about 26 # pressure. The AC doesn't stop working when the evaporator starts to ice up, the ice eventually prevents air flow over the evaporator then no cooling. bg

Check to see if your 2006 allows you to remove the thermistor, the freeze switch, from the top of the AC box accessible with the glove box removed. My December 2006 built, 2007 has it that way. It must be in the air flow instead of the evaporator coil. I have pulled mine out and ran the system. Air flow got down to about 38 degrees. If you are able to remove the thermistor from the top like my truck, remove it and hook it up to a Volt/Ohm meter and read the resistance. Dip it into some Ice and it should change resistance if it is good. Can't remember if the resistance goes up or down, just know it changes with temperature.
If your thermistor is inside and can't be removed unless you disassemble the system, see if you can unhook it, turn on the heater and read the VOM and see if it changes value.
