AC quick disconnect tricks?

Anybody have any? I have to do the defrost door repair and tried to disconnect the AC lines to get the HVAC unit out. I got the one line disconnected but I can't get the line from the evaporator to the evaporator core disconnected. I soaked it in WD-40 and let it set and no dice. I'm using the plastic disconnect tool. My last resort will be to cut the line on the core side, remove the evaporator and try and disconnect it out of the truck if I can't get it loose.

The release is a garter spring as you probably know, if you can twist the connection back and forth while some one inserts the release tool it might help. bg

First step is a good soaking.

Next grab both sides and go hulk hogan on em compressing the lines towards each other to relieve tension.

Now insert the removal tool and make sure it goes in all the way. A good tug and the lines should seperate!
