Hello, friends! My 04 3500 DRW has cold AC but no air comes out of the vents. The fan/blower is running on high but no air is making it's way through any of the dash vents, floor vents, or defrost vents. I have searched and read about TSB 24-004-03 but the incidents I found were related to air sticking on a specific HVAC selection, e. g. dash only, no defrost. My circumstance appears to be different, or is it?

Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance for your input!

First, welcome to the TDR!! Good to have ya!

Well, I`m not all that great on troubleshooting 3rd gen's, as I have not had any problems with my 05 yet.

Other than dealer warranty, have you checked for any vacuum leaks under the dash? Check it with the engine running, you should be able to hear a hiss. I`m not 100% sure they still use vacuum to control HVAC, it could be a servo motor. .

Do you get cold air from your defroster? Usually if the hvac fails it will fail there. Also possible your blend door has frozen at a hot position, try running it then giving a 'techincal tap' to the airbox around the passenger foot area. That may dislodge the door. .

Good luck

Thanks for the welcome and the input. The HVAC is no longer vacum controlled it's all servo so no luck there. I have ordered a service manual to look through before I go and yank the dash to get into the air box.

Thanks to those that provided input! I tore into the dash and eventually found the issue. On the top of the HVAC unit is the recirculation door housing and of course the recirculation door. This door had broken off and was laying flat against the HVAC unit preventing any air from circulating to any of the vents or other outlets. I ran up to the dealer to order the part and what do you know: NATIONAL BACK ORDER!

Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) Seems I am not the only one that has experienced this failure. Parts supposed to be in late August. At least I have AC now that the door is not blocking any longer.

A/C won't blow

At first I thought the door vents were siezed on mine but I finally

figured it out, my evaporator was freezing up and only does it on

a road trip, not in town driving. The dealer says the thermostat

located on the evaporator is shorted out, gone bad for some other

reason, anyway they'll fix it for $750. My truck is an '03, one interesting

thing about the system is that when you defrost and try to set

it back to A/C you have to stop and switch engine off and manipulate

the controls, then crank it back up and hope the system has reset itself.

you can not switch back without this ceremony.

This is sorry stuff, nothing more than sorry vendors who make this stuff

for the manufacturer and DC does nothing about it.

I could pay the $750 and get the thermostat replaced then later the

vent doors will break and I'll have to pay another $750 to get that fixed,

however that's a $1000 repair job.
