Why does AC start blowing hot air when brakes are applied?

Mike,
Is there a common link associated with vacuum.
Perhaps brakes and blend doors are vacuum driven.

An 01 should have electric blend door actuation and hydro boost brakes.You need to look at what is dropping out real time when the brakes are being applied

Thanks you guys I will try that. Drove to LA yesterday it did that every time I applied brakes it was a real pain#@$%!

My 99 would do that and it also affected the cruise. I found it to be the vacuum Tee at the center of the firewall and high near the hood-firewall seal. The 01 could be plumbed different, but I don't think so.

Thankyou very much I am going to look at that now.Did you replace T?

6naline01, Yes, I did replace the tee and cut all three lines off as they were slightly swelled with age and I think one of the three was slipping off, that fixed that small problem once and for all.
