Has anyone had this particular part go bad? It is called a accelator pedal position sensor/ ball crank. I had to replace my and it is a dealer only part. Boys grab your ankles on this one. $535 for the part alone, it sits just above the the injection pump, I have to say, it is hard to believe that these companys are in trouble financially with how they price these particular parts. My question of the day is if many of fellow Dodge owners our there have had a issue with this or not. Sorry this application is for a 2004 Ram 3500 SRW Cummins 4x4

KDurst - yes, I've had mine replaced. I purchased the part from my Dodge dealer. The part is also available directly from Cummins - where it does cost less. The Dodge part comes pre-calibrated on it's mounting bracket making replacement a 10-minute ordeal (that includes time for 1 beer).

For me, paying the extra money to get a plug-n-play part from Dodge was well worth it. I don't have the time or the tools to try to calibrate a new part on an old bracket.

I also don't mind paying extra if it means I can just blow into my Dodge dealer and walk out with the part. Sure the price was high but the part gets manufactured somewhere and that tooling has to be paid off, the design engineers need their pay, it gets shipped around (no telling how many times), it gets assembled for Mopar with the associated parts warranty, carries a Mopar part number and branding, the dealer has to use up shelf space to stock it. So - for parts like this one (not brake shoes, shocks, etc. ) I really don't mind the price. I always just hope I can afford it when I need one.

buy it from cummins, way cheaper and only comes as an assembly, direct plug in, no calibration required, that is why it only comes in an assembly, sensor and bell crank group is calibrated when assembled

Even cheaper from "timbo". You can PM him for more info. You only get the sensor and have to calibrate it, but he has detailed instructions and only requires a voltmeter. Last cost that I heard was $160. I am running one on my 03 now and it works great.
