Hello all. I seem to be having an acceleration problem, or at least I think I do. When pulling away from a stop the truck seems to accelerate better during part throttle, but poorly when I mash it to the wood. It also seems the be knocking during hard acceleration, similar to ignition knock on gas engine. What could it be? Or is this the nature of the beast.

How many miles on your clutch?? I just replaced mine at 170,000. It would feel normal when starting out with light throttle. Put the pedal down and it would slip.

Food for thought ;)

I had a 99 that would knock like that when the fuel filter was getting plugged. bg

I noticed over the last couple of days my fuel pressure has been dropping, finally settling at 8psi at idle. So I figure from the above advice my fuel filter is getting plugged. I changed it today, boy what a comedy of errors!! I got it all changed and buttoned up. Cycled the key a few times until I had pressure and fired it up, ha ha running on the first attempt. Ran 10 seconds and died. So I cycled the key some more. Crank and crank and crank well you get the picture. So I cracked open 3 injector lines, gave them a good turn and a half. Finally success fired right up, got out to look at what was going on, crap, can you say diesel fuel shower!! I guess I only should have cracked them open a little. Fuel pressure is still low.

Fuel Pressure is coming back up to par. I guess there must be some air in the line to the FP sender. I romped on it this afternoon coming home from work, left a black trail. It has never done that before so I assume it's getting plenty of fuel.

might wanna check your air filter?

I have noticed that knock (I am pretty sure were talking about the same one) in all VP 24 valves. It only happens when planted on the floor, any less and no "knock"

It did have sediment in the bottom of the fuel filter canister. Air filter is cleaned as recent as 2 weeks ago. Fuel pressure has been acting up again. I can now make it drop to 1-2 lbs. at will. Anybody have any ideas on how to convince DC to replace the lift pump?
