Just got back my 04 2500 CTD after having a new muffler put on. I put on a Dynoflo muffler with 4" inlet and outlet. The muffler shop put an adapter on right after the catalit converter the used 4" pipe back to the muffler and then attathed to the stock tail pipe.

Here is the problem. When I accelerate hard the truck acts like it isn't getting enough air or fuel. It sounds muffled and no accelereation and limited top end.

Any input deeply appreciated.

seems like if i remember right some of the 03-04 trucks would defuel if you built boost to fast. That might be happening with now with your freer flowing exhaust.

This is not related to your new exhaust, unless they did something underhood while working on the truck.

Have you checked the air/fuel filters?

I remember this too and it was especially noticeable if a person went to 5" pipes.
A truck would actually dyno less power. Maybe a really free breathing 4" can do the same.

That would be a Fleetguard FS 19579. I have hit a quite period in my driving and haven't driven it much. Would that also have anything to do with it.

Thanks you guys for your quick response. I am trying to get out of town to celebrate my dad's 86th

FS19579 is an obsolete filter, use the FS19856. How many miles on it? Is the air filter clean?

5" exhaust can create a slightly slower spool, but honestly it should effect it so much that you have overspool codes. The stock turbine housing is so small that spools pretty fast. The truck sounds like a cali truck since it has a cat, and the cat will provide all the backpressure you "need".

It has 130K on it and it is 4" exhaust and now that you say it there isn't a cat converter. I used that a reference as to where the new exhaust was attached. The new muffler on ti isn't much more than doing a straight pipe.

Will the obsolete filter work? What is the difference?

Check your fuel filter. and or your lift pump. I had my truck loose power when accelerating when the filter was slightly plugged after getting a bad load of fuel.

OK what is the trick to getting the fuel filter cap back on. The filter I took out looks like the compressed and the bottom of the filter was broken. Was it the wrong filter?

Thanks

Found the problem. The bottom of the filter pulled away and stayed in the fuel filter hole. Thats is why I couldn't get the cap on!!

It was the filter it runs great again

Thanks for your help.
