When shifting from 3rd gear (about 2125 RPM) into 4th gear (RPM drops to 1500, 30 MPH) the engine will not accelerate past 30 MPH. Have to kick the accelerator pedal or down shift back to 3rd and rev to about 2400/2500 RPM before going into 4th then all ok. Is this normal or a problem with APPS? It happened 3 times during 2,500 miles of driving this week when I was merging into traffic getting onto the interstate. It has never happened in 81,000 miles or was I just lazy on my shift points? If I am shifting and accelerating all is ok but the problem occurs if I have to maintain a steady speed in traffic and the RPM is a little lower than it should be then the pedal hangs up and moving it forward does not increase RPM or speed. Open for comments before I contact dealer. Is the APPS covered under the 100k warranty or do I have another problem or no problem at all?

Not sure if Apps the same as I have 99QC but I Lost my APPS at 103k But symtoms were very real. It would just quit responding and motor would go to Idle... Replaced myself but got screwed by stealer on part. ($400. 00) As far as 100k warantee I can only say be careful. My oil pressure sending unit went out at 80k and is screwed right into cummins block but was told that it did not fall into 100k category. ($200. 00) My advice to you whatever you find out is to search for threads on Apps and then if it is out of your pocket their are Cummins parts outlets to the public that will bowl you over on the price differance... . APPS is located on front of block under injector pump with black plastic cover. Actual sensor cannot be seen until you remove five bolts holding throttle control linkage. Sensor is mounted with two screws with its back to the block on the back of the throttle control bracket. I has a six wire plug into the bottom of it. You could try cleaning the plug? Hope I helped. . Steve in Northern Ca. PS: Try just turn key to start position without starting and slowley push accelerator to floor and return and then start... May tell ECM where it should be...
